November 2009 in Italy
I made a special trip to Italy in Novenber to experience the winter climate for a different perspective in my subject matter. I will be having an exhibition at the Gadfly Gallery in Perth and a few Italian works in the International Art Centre in New Zealand in March 2010. I was a little disappointed that the weather was not conducive to outdoor painting as it was foggy for quite a number of days. I was also there for the freak snow storms in Europe and was excited to introduce snowscapes into my collection of Tuscan paintings.
As always I enjoyed the landscape, people and the food in Tuscany, not to mention the vino and I happily brought back a number of studies for the exhibitions. Please go to the exhibition page to see the details of the upcoming shows and their venues. Below is a sneak preview of some of the works from Tuscany.

Latest Painting Trip to Capertee
One of my most enjoyable area to paint in Australia is the Capertee Valley. I have the pleasure of a few other Artists company and we make camp for a few weeks. My last trip included a local exhibition of paintings from the artists in our group. I was in Italy at the time of the fires in the valley and
and hope that the locals faired reasonably well throughout the ordeal. I hope the valley springs back to life soon for the locals as well as the Artists who love to reproduce the many beautiful areas available to them.

Kasey's Trip to Perth and Southern WA
Kasey and Denice, flew to Perth in September and hired a campervan to travel around the southern areas of WA. The trip was an adventure, although the weather was not as obliging as they had hoped. Nevertheless Kasey managed to put up his easel on a few occasions and brought back a few studies to paint particular subjects from his studio. The coastal areas, especially the Esperance region were exceptionally appealing and they did score a few days of blissful weather before a squall sent them on a quick trip out of town to Kalgoorlie.
Whilst Kasey was in Perth he made the acquaintance of the Gadfly gallery owner and has organised to exhibit a range of Italian paintings in March, 2010. He is presently in Italy painting in order to add to his collection for this show. Dates and location will be advised shortly.

Painting Trip to Wooli.
In February, I spent a week with my wife, Denice, at the beautiful coastal town of Wooli, which is situated between Halfway Ck and Grafton. It was a busy week with an abundancy of subjects, ranging from seascapes, river views and rock formations that are unique to Wooli. The rockface in some areas is falling away naturally and holds such extreme colour contrasts and with each changing light becomes another subject to paint, quite different from the previous painting.
The town itself is a quaint mix of old and new, and being nestled between the sea and the river, has something different to offer the artist from a variety of angles. I am planning to hold a tutorial at Wooli the first week in November this year and will hire cabins by the river to house a group of students for the week. Please go to the tutorial page to get more details. Below are samples of paintings from my trip which will give the potential student an idea of the subject matter available at Wooli.

America-Australia Association
My painting was presented to Chip Goodyear (Former CEO of BHP). An article in the Financial Review (Rear Window) states the following "Chip and Elizabeth were more excited by the surprise gift on the night - a painting by Kasey Sealy of Melbourne's Government House - a building Chip has apparently taken a shine to over his nine years in the Southern Capital"
My painting of the Blue Mts was presented to Jim McKinerny (CEO of Boeing Air Coorporation) at a dinner in New York. I have been commissioned by the America-Australia Association President, Malcolm Binks, to complete five paintings to date, for members of their Association. Three of the commissions were presented by Rupert Murdoch & Malcolm Binks.
The first was for Australian golfer, Greg Norman, presented in New York in 2004.
The second commission in 2005, was for the President of Dow Corning Chemical Company, Andrew Liveris- another Australian who has had great success in the States. The third commission was in 2006 for the CEO of Duke Energy in America, Paul Anderson (ex - CEO of BHP). |

From My Back Door in Berowra
Berowra lies on the Northern outskirts of Sydney,I moved with my family in 2000. We are surrounded by some of the most beautiful bushland in the world. My favourite pastime is to wander around the tracks, just below our house. The glorious sandstone boulders and native flora offers me an assembly of subjects to reproduce. It has also provided an assortment of unexpected adventures, from hail storms, bush fires and reptile activities. The photo below is of 2 red-bellied black snakes, one eating the other.
The fires in 2001, came up to our back fence and we had one of the large helicopters, (Hercules), dropping water on our house. In 2002 we had a massive hailstorm, which left Berowra looking like a snow field, with a foot or more of ice on houses and roads. Recently, Sydney experienced more fires, which were not far from our back door. In the photo below, you can see the beginning of the fire, which started just over the hill from my home. |
